In Uzbekistan, temperatures can drop to -10ยฐC during the winter months. However, true football fans play even in winter. Playing in a cold environment requires special preparation and caution.

Choosing Clothing

Base layer: Thermoregulating base clothing โ€” polypropylene or merino wool. Cotton clothing becomes saturated with sweat and cools the body โ€” DO NOT USE it.

Long football pants: Special football thermal pants โ€” keep the knees warm and reduce the risk of muscle injury.

Gloves: Player gloves are very useful on the field โ€” if the hands get cold, the whole body cools down faster.

Headwear: 30% of body heat is lost through the head. Keep your head warm using a thin sports cap or a buff.

Warming Up is Even More Important

Double your warm-up time in cold weather โ€” to 30 minutes. Muscles are stiffer in the cold and require more warming up. Light jogging, dynamic stretching, and gradually increasing intensity.

Risk of Muscle Injury

The risk of muscle tears increases 2-3 times in the cold. Be especially careful during sprints. Do not perform 100% sprints in the first 15-20 minutes โ€” feel that your body is fully warmed up.

Field Condition

In winter, the field can be hard or frozen. There is a high risk of slipping on frozen artificial turf. It is recommended to use special winter boots or multi-studded soles.

Hydration

Thirst is felt less in winter, but the risk of dehydration exists. Drink warm water or tea โ€” cold water lowers the body temperature.

Indoor Fields

The best option is to play on an indoor field in winter. You can find indoor futsal courts in the Playmatch app. Playing futsal in a warm indoor arena is much safer and more enjoyable than playing on an open field at -5ยฐC.
