The History of Hooliganism: From Fandom to Crime

Football hooliganism began in England in the 1960s and 70s and spread throughout Europe. The most terrible event was the Heysel Stadium disaster of 1985, where 39 people died in clashes between Liverpool and Juventus fans. The Hillsborough disaster of 1989 was the result of management errors and overcrowding, claiming the lives of 97 people.

These tragedies fundamentally changed English football. Based on the Taylor Report, all stadiums were made all-seater, security systems were strengthened, and technologies for identifying hooligans were implemented. Today, the level of hooliganism in England has decreased by 90%. However, this problem remains relevant in Eastern Europe and South America.

In Uzbekistan, hooliganism is not a major problem, but preventive measures are important. Stadium security, camera surveillance, and communication with fan groups all help create a safe stadium environment. Football should be a celebration, not a war. Every fan must be responsible and maintain the spirit of sport.
