Proprioception is the body's ability to sense its position in space. In football, this is crucial: striking the ball while standing on one leg, jumping for an aerial ball, maintaining balance after contact โ€” all of these depend on proprioception. Good proprioception also reduces the risk of injury, especially in the knee and ankle joints.

BOSU balls, balance boards, and unstable surfaces are used in proprioception exercises. Standing on one leg, maintaining balance with eyes closed, and working with a ball on an unstable surface are the primary exercises. Andrea Pirlo paid special attention to proprioception exercises during his recovery from injury, which extended his career longevity.

Uzbek football players are recommended to add proprioception exercises to their daily training. Balance exercises can be performed as part of a 10-15 minute warm-up. This is especially important for young players โ€” their joints are still in the development stage and need to be strengthened with proper exercise.
