Eye tracking technology is used in football to study the decision-making process. When a player views game situations using special glasses or in front of a screen, it determines where their eyes are looking, for how long, and in what sequence. The best players see the field more broadly and make decisions faster.
Research has shown that players like Xavi and Iniesta turn their heads 2-3 times to scan their surroundings before receiving the ball. Average players do this 0-1 times. This difference is the basis of what is called football IQ. Combined with VR technology, eye tracking training improves a player's peripheral vision.
Eye tracking is not yet used in Uzbekistan's football, but in the future, it could become a standard tool in academies. Developing the habit of turning the head is a simple exercise that any coach can add to their training sessions. "See more โ play better" is a universal rule of football.
