A professional football player covers an average of 10-13 km in one match. Much of this distance consists of fast running and sprints. Therefore, both aerobic and anaerobic endurance are necessary.

Aerobic Endurance

Aerobic endurance is the ability to move at moderate intensity for a long period. To increase it: 30-60 minutes of slow jogging (heart rate 130-150 bpm), cycling, or swimming. Perform this 2-3 times a week.

Anaerob Endurance

Anaerobic endurance is needed for short-term high intensity. Sprints, interval training, and Tabata exercises help. A 30-second sprint + 30 seconds of rest, repeated 8-10 times, is an effective exercise.

Football-Specific Exercises

Interval games with the ball โ€” 4 minutes of high intensity, 3 minutes of low intensity, repeated 4-5 times. Small-sided games (3v3, 4v4) increase endurance in real game conditions. Change-of-direction drills are also important โ€” running in a straight line is rare in football.

When endurance increases, you will play effectively until the end of the match.
