Virtual reality (VR) is causing a true revolution in football training. By wearing VR headsets, players can increase their decision-making speed while feeling the stadium environment. This method is particularly effective for young footballers, allowing them to experience the pressure and speed of a real game in a safe environment. The Manchester City academy has been regularly conducting VR training since 2023.

Augmented reality (AR), on the other hand, is being used in sideline training. Through AR glasses, players receive real-time instructions โ€” for example, showing where to send the ball or which position they need to run to. This technology transforms passive training into an interactive experience.

The combination of VR/AR is also beneficial for players recovering from injuries. They can continue their tactical preparation without physical strain. In the future, these technologies are expected to become standard tools in football academies at all levels.
