Throughout the history of football, the question "did the ball cross the line or not?" has caused some of the biggest debates among referees and fans. The human eye is limited, especially in high-speed games where a hundredth of a second can be of decisive importance. Therefore, the evolution of GoalLine technology became not just a convenience, but a necessity to ensure fairness. Initial attempts were based on simple and mechanical sensors. In early experiments, magnetic sensors placed inside the ball or under the line, as well as simple electrical contacts, were tested. However, these methods were too primitive: they could only detect that the ball touched something, but could not determine if it had fully crossed the line. Such systems frequently made errors and did not fit the dynamics of the game. Over time, technology moved to a digital stage. In the early 2010s, systems combining infrared rays and high-precision cameras were developed. Here, the main focus was on tracking the coordinates of the ball in real-time. However, the biggest revolution occurred with the introduction of "Hawk-Eye" technology into football. This system creates a 3D model of the ball through several high-precision cameras and determines whether it crossed the line down to the millimeter. Today, GoalLine technology has become even more complex. Current systems are integrated not only with cameras but also with special chips and sensors placed inside the ball. This data reaches the referee's watch as a signal within a few seconds. As a result, the human factor has been minimized and the transparency of the game has increased. In conclusion, the evolution of GoalLine technology moved from simple "sensing" to "precise calculation." This journey from the simplicity of sensors to artificial intelligence and high-speed video analysis has turned football into a modern technological sport. Now, technology does not replace the referee, but supports their decision with the most accurate evidence.
