Even a team of the most talented players in football cannot achieve victory without communication. Effective communication on the pitch is the key to success.
Verbal Communication
'Mine!' β meaning I have the ball. 'Behind you!' β notifying that an opponent is coming from behind. 'Time!' β there is no pressure, you can play calmly. 'Line!' β need to move to the edge. These short commands must be understood quickly at game speed.
Physical Gestures
Pointing direction with the hand, nodding with the head, signaling with the running direction β these complement verbal communication. Gestures become especially important in noisy stadiums.
Improving Communication
Practice verbal communication during training. Make communicating a mandatory rule in small games (rondo, positional play). Over time, you will begin to understand your teammates even without words β and that is the highest level.
A good team is a team that communicates well. Speak on the pitch, signal, and support each other.
